Silver Pekapeka - Pounamu Disc

This Taonga is a blend of Customary, and Contemporary. A cast Customary-style Silver Pekapeka sits above a Pounamu Disc.

Pekapeka is the Māori word for 'Bat' - fun fact, the 2x species of Bat that exist in Aotearoa are our only native land mammal!

Pekapeka are fantastic Taonga - being not only symmetrical, but also double sided! One understanding is that this dual symmetry mirrors the nature of our native bats, themselves.

The stone used for this Taonga is a lovely disc of Kahurangi Pounamu, from here in Aotearoa - note how translucent it is!

Please note that this Taonga has multiple, which means that although each of the Discs used are Kahurangi Pounamu, they are all unique, and so will have subtle elements in the disc that will look different to the next. This means your Taonga will be unique to you, and may not necessarily be the exact Taonga pictured below - although it will be very similar.

Pekapeka, Jumpring, and Chain are all Solid Sterling Silver.
The chain is a 50cm long, 1mm Curb-link.
